A self-protection training system built on awareness, decision-making, and real-world personal safety — not martial arts belts or unrealistic techniques.
Tim Robertson is the founder of Transformation Defense, a self-protection training system focused on awareness, decision-making, and real-world personal safety strategies.
Timothy Robertson is the Founder and Creator of the Transformation Defense System — a practical, scenario-based approach to real-world self-protection training built on more than five decades of experience in martial arts, corrections, corporate security, and personal safety education.
Tim began his martial arts training in the early 1970s, earning his black belt in 1980. In 1994 he traveled to Japan to study advanced jiu-jitsu, deepening his understanding of practical self-defense and combative principles. Over the course of his career, his contributions to martial arts and personal protection have earned him recognition at some of the highest levels of the industry.
Robertson's professional background includes working in the corrections field, serving as a Corporate Security Director, and working as a Behavior Management Instructor — a separate role in which he taught verbal de-escalation strategies and non-lethal control techniques to manage conflict and high-stress situations safely and effectively.
Through decades of experience across martial arts, corrections, corporate security, and real-world safety environments, Tim recognized a critical gap in traditional self-defense training: most programs focus on physical techniques while ignoring the more important elements of awareness, threat recognition, and decision-making under pressure.
That recognition became the foundation of Transformation Defense — a training system specifically designed so that anyone can learn and apply it, regardless of age, fitness level, or prior experience. No martial arts background required. No special physical ability needed. Transformation Defense is real-world self-protection built for everyday people.
Transformation Defense is not a martial arts program. It is a self-protection system focused on awareness, decision-making, and practical response strategies — designed from the ground up to be beginner friendly and accessible to all ages.
Today Tim teaches individuals, youth, women, and organizations how to improve their Self-Protection IQ through awareness training, scenario-based learning, and last-resort defensive tactics. He is also the author of two e-books on personal protection mindset and strategy.
Most self-defense programs start with physical techniques. Transformation Defense starts with the skills that actually prevent incidents — awareness, positioning, and decision-making.
Physical defensive skills are the last layer of a complete personal safety system. Our training builds the entire system — not just the last resort.
